Hijack on Japanese XP OS

keep getting annoying pop-ups for gambling and dating, and my kids don't need to see this stuff.
started when I downloaded supertorrent or when I was looking for torrents.
I am unable to rename the Hijack this executable. the option never comes up
just open, cut, copy, delete , and properties, no rename
I tried going into safe mode and using HJT to clear out the Hijack files, then ran Ad-aware and AVG virus scan
cleaned out all cookies and temp files.
rebooted and as soon as I opened IE it happened again.

• Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis:

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:

• CounterSpy
• AVG Antispyware Log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
• Bitdefender - from step 6
• Panda Scan - from step 6
• runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
• newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
• HijackThis

 

about the above, any reason why it will not let me change the name?
I never encounter this problem before.

 

If you can't change the name just run it as is.
