First you must stay in one thread, please follow the steps below:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gifAfter doing ALL of the above and you still have a problem, make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below thread to properly use HijackThis and attach the log:

When I run Adaware, I can get as far as deleting the files at which point the entire program freezes. It freezes with the deleting files status bar at the end.

ran CWshredder with no problem and files found. all clear.
    other ideas?

Yes, follow the READ ME all the way thru, then procede with the HJT thread on how to properly run HJT and attach a log!

Please reply in THIS thread, do not create any more threads with this problem.

from what i can tell the spyware removal instructions worked and i didn“t apparently have to use HJT.

might i ask something? a2 warns me about programs opening with backdoor infection posibilities. a program that raised my attention was this Rpcss.exe in the systems folder? harmful or innocuous?
thanks again for all the help!!!!
    really thanks for the patience!

The file "rpcss.exe" is part of the Remote Procedure Call Services, it is reponsible for Remote Procedure Call services on the local machine. These are public services available to the local network. Needless to say it's legit!

If you will go ahead and attach a current HJT log from normal mode to confirm your clean.
