hijack this help

ok, I have some lovely popups that keep coming back no matter what I do. I have updated and run spybot and ad aware and fixed the problems found supposedly. I have mcafee virus protection and firewall as well and have run those too.

These popups appeared last night and they have created shortcuts on my desktop complete with pictures. anything from online betting to lesbian sex and big tits. I am sure that some people wouldn't mind having these on their desktop but I want them gone!


Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

 

Did you go through the steps in the sticky? Try that first.

 

After doing ALL of the steps in the READ ME and you still have a problem:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the ZIP file as your backups will not be safely stored.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gifBefore running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.
