My computer was infected with Bloodhound.W32.EP and Backdoor.Trojan, but Norton hasn't popped up with any warnings about those two anymore, so I think they were removed.

    Hi :)

If you wish to double check or conformation that these and any other malware on your PC has been removed then please follow the below guide of ours. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

Hi at the time I posted their were no logs listed, I now see a seperate thread with some of the logs in it posted after this thread, I will merge the two threads together as its always best to keep all the relevent information in one thread as it makes for easy reading as if the info is in separate threads, they will get lost quickly.

Do you also have the other logs that were requested?

  6. Arielle

    Arielle Private E-2

I put them in another thread but now that I look through all the other threads, I don't see it. So I'll post another thread with the other 3 logs.

  7. Arielle

    Arielle Private E-2

Actually, now that I try to repost them, they won't attach. Ugh...

  8. Arielle

    Arielle Private E-2

Uhmm, they won't attach so it must be because you linked the two threads, right? Okay.

    Hi the thread with the three logs in it ( post number 3 above with the title More scan results/logfiles ), that I merged was the one with;

    runkeys.txt (13.6 KB, 0 views)
    newfiles.txt (22.6 KB, 0 views)
    hijackthis.log (7.9 KB, 1 views)

attached, I didnt see any thread with Counterspy, Bitdefender or Panda scans, but if they will not attach just change the file name slightly of the log file to say bitdefenderscan1.txt and pandascan1.txt etc and they will attach.

Why we need all these scans it to gain a full picture of the malware infection on your PC, so that nothing is missed, not good to just do half a job I feel :)

but please keep them all in this thread, all you have to do is to click Post Reply button below this post of mine then scroll down a touch and click Manage Attachments and upload the last logs, then the malware guys can get to work on cleaning up your PC, but they may not get back to you right away as they will be stuffing their faces with turkey!!

Okay! Here they are. They worked without having to change the name. I suppose it was just a matter of time. Thanks.

    Re: More scan results/logfiles

You did not run all steps in the READ ME. I see no signs of Spybot being installed.

Start by downloading a tools we will need - Pocket KillBox

Extract it to its own folder somewhere that you will be able to locate it later.

Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = ;localhost
    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - ~CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mysvcig38] mysvcc.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [mysvcig38] mysvcc.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background
    O4 - Global Startup: Compaq Connections.lnk = C:\Program Files\Compaq Connections\1940576\Program\BackWeb-1940576.exe
    O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
    O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show &Related Links - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Now run Pocket Killbox by doubleclicking on killbox.exe
Choose Tools > Delete Temp Files and click Delete Selected Temp Files.
Then after it deletes the files click the Exit (Save Settings) button.
NOTE: Pocket Killbox will only list the added files it is able to find on the system. So when you do the below, if some files do not show in the list after pasting them in, just continue.

    Select:
    • Delete on Reboot
    • then Click on the All Files button.
    • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\i.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\iAlmcoin.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\mysvcc.exe
    • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
    • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt.
If you receive a PendingFileRenameOperations prompt, just click OK to continue (But please let me know if you receive this message!).
If Killbox does not reboot just reboot your PC yourself.

Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.

    1. GetRunKey
    2. ShowNew
    3. HJT

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Reminder Note: Once we have determined you are malware free you will need to disable System Restore, reboot, and re-enable system restore per step 1 of the READ & RUN ME. This only applies to if using WinXP or WinMe.

I downloaded killbox but I don't know how to extract the files.

I don't remember what happened with SpyBot. I remember trying to download it but I couldn't and I'm not sure why. Forget the last post, I figured out how to extract the files. But anyway, I went through all of these steps and here are the other attachments.

I suppose things are working well. The whole thing that started all of this was that I couldn't sign into MSN Messenger. So I reinstalled the system and there were still problems. I don't know if that's fixed though because I wanted to do all of this before I downloaded it again. However, I could get into every website except hotmail, but I can sign in now.
Then again, things are still going a little slower than usual.

I tried attaching runkeys.txt and the newfiles.txt AGAIN but it said I already have them in another post. So, I didn't think I had to run the scans again, save a new log,a nd post them. So here's the new HJT log.

Some steps further down may help this.

That message indicates that you did not get new logs as requested. You will need get new logs but wait until you do the below.

First uninstall CounterSpy which I assume you installed while doing the READ ME.

Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - ~CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.
    1. GetRunKey
    2. ShowNew
    3. HJT
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Things definitely are going faster now. I deleted CounterSpy and did all the other steps you had me do in the last post. I also ran a Norton AntiVirus scan to check if I still had Bloodhound.W32.EP and Backdoor.Trojan and nothing came up!!! Here are the new logs.

Just run the below to Remove Windows Messenger

    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. You can delete the ShowNew.Zip and GetRunkey.Zip files and the files that you extracted from the ZIP files. You can also delete the C:\newfiles.txt and C:\runkeys.txt logs that were created
    7. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • go back to step 8 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
