Hijack This! Log - Please Help!

Okay, so I have a problem on my computer: I cannot change my desktop background (If I go into Properties, the 'Desktop' tab doesn't appear).

It says "Warning: Your Computer is Infected"

I ran some anti-spyware, virus scan, etc. It cleaned all my other problems, except for this. So I figured it may be something in my system registery. So here is my log:

Anything to say? Please tell me the *best* things to delete (fix).

Re: Hijack This! Log - Please Help!

A quick look at your log clearly indicates you passed over the sticky threads at the top of the forum. We require our full clean procedure be run (ALL steps) in the order written before we will look at HijackThis logs. Please follow the steps below.:)

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above if you still have a problem:

    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

This is my second post, I was unsure as to whether I should put it in my other thread or not, but I put it here to be safe. So, I followed all the instructions in the sticky (this time), and are still facing these symptoms:

    • Cannot change my desktop wallpaper (when I go to properties, the options to do so have disappeared)
    • My homepage is still hijacked to about:blank, and then to updatesearch.com (I try to change it, even after running all cleaning programs)
    • Favorites have been added that I didn't add

Any help at all is appreciated. I want control of my computer back! I am also getting a lot of popups. My log is attatched.

Please do not create new threads with the same problem. I have merged your thread back to your original one so post in here from now on.

Before we continue run the below online scans:

    TrendMicro Online Scan
    Bitdefender online scan
RavAntivirus online scan <-- select Auto Clean then click Scan My PC
    TrojanScan online scan

After you run the online scans above, reboot and post a fresh HJT log.

Your Operating System and Internet Explorer versions are WAY out of date and represent a major security risk. After we fix your current problems, you must get updated. You need to install Service Pack 2 for security purposes.

Please boot into Safe Mode with the Viewing of Hidden Files & Folders Enabled

Now scan with HijackThis and Check the Boxes for the following:

Make sure All Browser Windows are Closed when you Click FIX.

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://www.updatesearches.com/search.php?qq=%1
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.updatesearches.com/bar.html
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://www.updatesearches.com/search.php?qq=%1
