    Hello All,

I first joined and did a quick read of the rules so if I do anything wrong please be gentle.

I'm really distressed because I have a browser Hijack. I've used several programs to scan and locate it without any luck. I'm really sorry for not having any kind of log about.

    This is what happened:
I was looking and testing free anonymous US proxyservers to bypass Hulu.com and Adult Swim. When I was trying to load the page using one of the proxies I noticed that instead of leading me to thre right page I went to other sites. One in particular called Webshots. I changed my browser settings of course but it was already too late.

I used the following programs to locate and delete it:
    [*]McAfee Antivirus program
    [*]Windows Defender
    [*]Adware
    [*]Rootkit Hook Analyzer
    [*]AntiVir Personal Edition Classic

All of thse without any luck. I deleted my browser cookies too. That didn't help either.

I had to do a complete system scan since scanning just Firefox did not show up anything bad and I have no clue where else this thing coulld be hiding.

I hope this was sufficient information. Thank you in advance.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

If you believe you have malware problems, please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions. However before starting, stop using any proxies and see if you have any problems. Webshots is not a malware site.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run theREAD & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
