    Please help me!!

Friends have been emailing me about emails that I have sent them with viagra ads in them. OR I will get undeliverable mail in my email box to people that I don't send emails to that often. I think me email address book has been hijacked. Please tell me what I need to do to stop it. I have Norton Antivirus and it can't stop it. This is driving me crazy. Thank you so much for all your help.

Malware detected in email databases has to be cleaned up by you. You have a few choices:

    1. delete the whole file which is not an option you normally want to use
    2. load the email folder that contains the infection and delete ALL unnecessary emails (hoping to remove the problem email) and then use the Mailbox Cleanup option to delete all old emails. Then compact the Outlook database to permanently remove data. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/196990 If you do not cleanup and compact the databases, the deleted emails may still be leaving hidden information in the database that you just cannot see but a scanner may still pickup on it.
    3. create a new folder and move only emails you really need into the new folder and then delete the infected folder.

Yes, you could delete the entire account, but if you want to continue to use it, I would transfer the emails that you absolutely must keep into a new folder and then delete the original folder.

After your original suggestion I went thru and deleted everything that I did not definitely need and cleaned out my address book for the most part. I have deleted folders too. I hope this will work. I also am marking anything in my junk box as phishing. Basically I am treating this account as a new account. Thanks again. If I need more help, I'll be back. :)

This did not work. I am going to abandon the hotmail account. My friends and family are starting to have the same thing to happen to them because of my email. This is ridiculous, thanks for all your help.

Ah, you didn't tell me it was a hotmail account. Your best alternative is to delete that account and create a new one. Where you downloading any of the emails to an installed email account on the computer?
