Hijacked

I am not a Techie but I need help. My Dogpile Home page has been replaced with Google. I can not replace it with dogpile for more than one use and then it reverts back to Google. I ran Adware, Spybot Antivirus program and deleted all my internet temp. files. No help. I then downloaded your Hijackthis program and ran it. I will attach the log file. Hopefully someone at your site can be of assistance. Thanking you in advance.

Yes you do have some malware on your PC, but to fully assist you in removing these pests, we will need you to follow the below as hijackthis on its own and without the correct install location and rename of the .exe file some malware can be missed, plus hijackthis cannot find all malware on your pc which is why the other steps are needed...

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:

CounterSpy

AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy

Bitdefender - from step 6

Panda Scan - from step 6

runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat

newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat

HijackThis

NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

The suggested method to fix my problems was far to complicated for me, so I went to my program add/remove and removed anything that looked suspicious. I was then going to attempt your directions to repair, but when I happened to click on my search program I opened with my Dogpile Search home page. I know that my logfile indicated that I still have malware, but it does not seem to be presenting any problems so I think I will leave well enough alone.................I do appreciate the information you have provided me and I thank you once again..........Harley Sutherland

If you like you can see the thread below and just attach a current Hijack This log so we can see if a hijack is present. The instructions are very thorough, if you need help just let me know.

You are right. The instructions are very thorough, but somewhat beyond my limited comprehension. I think I have gone as far as I can at this time. I will probably give it some time and then may tackle it again at a later date. At this time my computer seems to be running o.k. even though I know it has some malware..........thanks again..........Harley Sutherland
