Hello All- I have received very nice written instructions on how to remove "Geeba.dll" from my computer using HiJack This. However, when I try to check the check boxes and check "fix" the hijack screen goes blank and there is no confirmation that anything has been removed. When I rescan, the "geeba dll" entries remain. Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong? I believe my computer is infected with Vundo...

Yes, this fix worked incredibly well! I am so grateful! We have been living with this horrible condition for months and months and I've tried everything in the world to get rid of it. Nothing worked until now! Thank you! Thank you! :)

You can never believe what computer mishap happened to us tonight! We took our computer to Fry's to have the card reader swapped out because one of the little pins was bent on the original card reader. They kept it for 2 nights and then said to pick it up. We brought it home and now, when you just turn the power on for a minute, the fan roars REALLY REALLY LOUD!! and then the whole thing just powers off INSTANTLY and won't even boot AT ALL!! I'm taking it back to Fry's tomorrow, but what in the world do you think happened? Do you think the new card reader is somehow a hardward conflict or something? It came from Compac and is supposed to be identical to the one that was originally there! It's a puzzlement!! I'm using our old computer and right now I think it's infected with about one million viruses (that's why we had to get the new one). But anyway, at least I can still type on here! GOSH!! Last of all when I tried to get the EEK! smilely it won't post here. So I will just have to use the pink half-smile Smiley instead. Thanks for your thoughts on these things!

I'm not sure exactly what they did to the PC but if that is how they test PC's before returning them to the user, they should not be in the PC repair business. I'm sure they will say they did, but I wonder if they even checked if the PC was working after installing the new hardware.

Sounds like they may have something connected wrong or something has been shorted out. This particular question may be better served by posting in the Hardware Forum.

Thanks. I think they couldn't have checked it. I'm going back tomorrow.

Can you possibly answer why when I'm searching on e-bay, sometimes I get the pictures of the things for sale and sometimes I only get the little green picture of a camera (instead of the picture of the thing for sale)? Is there something I need to set up differently on my computer?

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!:)

It may have to do with your security settings and what cookies you allow onto your PC.

Nope. When I took it back they, as I thought they would, gave me a lot of trouble and said it probably got broken when I got it home....I told them they never even powered it up and the technician said he did power it up (which couldn't have happened because I was right there). Anyway, they still have it and are taking their sweet time about fixing it. Finally, one of the supervisors said that something was overheating it and making it power off. I said, yes, it's overheating because someone hooked something up wrong. It was fine when we brought it in here. All it needed was the card reader replaced and a cleaning. It's worrisome now because I'm worried they will do something bad to it because now they are unhappy with me complaining that they broke it. Anyway, that's the story so far.

Many people have nightmare stories to share about PC repair stores. Many of them are just not exerienced enough to work on PCs.

    Good luck with it!
