I've run a Hijack log and it ids the following as nasty and should be deleted.

    RO - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationary\Blank.htm

I've deleted it twice and verified its removal each time. A while later though, it returns.
    Any help would be appreciated.

HijackThis makes no references to whether anything is good or bad. It just displays a process list and various registry keys. It is up to the user to determine what everything is and whether it is good or bad.

Did you have all browsers closed before fixing it? Did you Reset Web Settings?

    To Reset Web Settings:
    1. If you have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, goto step 2. If not, skip to step 3.
    2. Now right click on your desktop Internet Explorer icon and select Properties. Then click the Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK. Then skip step 3.
    3. If you do not have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, click Start, Control Panel (for some systems it may be Start, Settings, Control Panel), Internet Options, Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK.

What I should have stated was that I posted my log on the Hijack This Log file and it indicated the item in question as "nasty". (I presume this info is accurate. Please let me know if my presumption is incorrect regarding their analysis).
Anyway, while my browsers were closed when I deleted the item, I didn't reset my web settings-must have missed that in your malware writeup. I'll give that a try. Thanks much for your help.

I think you are still saying this wrong. I believe what you are trying to say is that you ran your HijackThis log thru one of the automatic log readers and it told you it was bad. Correct?

HijackThis log readers are not really that accurate, and if you try the two in our sticky neither one of them will flag that line as a problem.

    Do you need it? No!

Is it a problem? Probably not!

Should you be able to remove it? Yes!
