Hello. I am having trouble with my msn messenger 7.5. I can't seem to log in. It gives me a hosts file error. I have checked and re-checked and can not find anything wrong with it. I thought the answer might lie in here. If anyone would be so kind as to check my hijackthis file and find out whatt he problem is (or any other problems on the way) that would be great.
    Thankyou:

P.S> I uploaded my hosts file so you may check it and hopefully tell me what the problem is. Thankyou.

I would not waste my time looking at hosts files like that! I do not believe in this stuff from:
    http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
    http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.zip

Why don't you try looking one by one thru the 9952 lines in that file and tell us what's wrong! Well you implied you did that! did you really look at every single line and then check to see if they are actually valid entries?

It is not a good idea to try to ban the internet. It slows down your system and makes it way to easy for a few bad things to hide in a ridiculously long hosts file. Also any smart piece of malware (and there are loads of them) can just change you hosts file into anything they want (even if you write protect it). I prefer to just see the hosts file set to the default.

I don't find them necessary at all. What SpywareBlaster and Spybots Immunize add to the registry is more than sufficient and is also a better method.

Take me up on what? Reading your hosts file line by line and verifying that every entry is really something you want to block or redirect???

You had problems in your log but you need to follow the steps D3 gave you before attaching a new HJT log to be read.
