HIPS - Email attachment helper?

HIPS Email Attachment Helper - ratznjammers

HIPS Email Attachment Helper - I can not open what looks like a wordpad document , but has an .efw extension.

When I right click to open, I get open with 'HIPS Email Attachment Helper'

Can anyone tell me how to open this wordpad document?

I have opened it in wordpad and when it opens, I get something like this:

Hi

What Security Program are you using?

If its CA ( Computer Associates ) Internet Security Suite, in which I have seen this happen before with, it could be that the AV and Firewall are blocking what they concider unsafe attachments in emails and they rename them to the extention of .efw, you have two ways of possibly fixing or getting around this ( I dont have CA but replied with exaclty the same post last year from info I read on the net on this issue )

1. Just make all file extentions visible ( in any folder click Tools > Folder Options > View and uncheck "Hide extentions for known file types" > Apply ) then rename the .efw to what ever the attached file should have been when sent, like if a Zip file change it to .zip if a Word Doc then .doc etc

2. Adjust the settings of CA
Open the CA Security Center > Click on CA Personal Firewall then Open Advance Settings > On the Personal Firewall window, click the Email icon on the left and
Select the Email Attachments tab on the top right > Scroll down and double click the .zip entry to pop up a small settings window > Uncheck the Quarantine all matching files box and click OK

Do the same for any other file types you regularly get sent as attachemnts in emails, but as this is a security risk, only open any emails from known sources and scan attachments especailly zip files with your antivirus first.
