Hitman 2 doesn't run

I installed Hitman 2 Silent Assasin from the CD. It installed perfectly. But after installation the game simply doesn't run. The mouse cursor changes to a spining CD and after some time it goes back to an arrow.

There are no error messages either during installation or when trying to run the game. The pc doesn't hang, it just comes out of the game.

I have tried running it under Dx8.1 as well as Dx9. I am using Winxp pro and a XFX GF4 Ti4200 card.

 

Of course hitmen don't run. They get all sweaty and nasty. It's tough to look cool whist sweaty and nasty. And they're apt to drop their sunglasses or mess up their white-shirt-on-white-tie wardrobe.

Is the game CD in the drive? Do you have 2 CD drives (try the game in the other one)? Is the game a backup (CD-R)?
