HJT Log ERRORS

Hello All, This is my first time here but I have to say this is one of the better looking forums!!

Anyway, I just downloaded the latest version of HJT and ran a scan and I keep getting the errors that I have pasted in the bottom of this thread. Earlier in the day I ran my old version (not knowing there was a new one available) and posted the log file that it saved (on a different forum than this) and I was informed that there was a new version, and to download it, but in the meantime he told me to run all my spyware etc., which I already knew and had done. And then post back with the new log file. So moving right along, I did however, run Spybot in the meantime just to make sure that it was the latest update. So then I proceeded to run a new scan of HJT and I started getting the errors, which i would then hit the OK butten and it would continue the scan until the next error popped up. I have never had any errors on previous scans before I downloaded this newer version. I was hoping someone could give me an idea what these errors are all about.

I am somewhat knowledgeable about computers, I just get really nervous when it comes to the registry, etc.

By the way, I'm doing this for a friend who has no knowledge of this stuf whatsoever!! It is Win 98 SE operating system.

I downloaded and installed the VISUAL BASIC RUN TIME and I still get the errors.

I guess i'll send the e-mail like it says to do in the error report. I was just hoping for a quick fix.

I will check back here in a little bit before I do the e-mail just to see if anyone has any more suggestions.

What Malware issues does your friend have?
We have our own CleanupTutorial we like people to attempt - Especially the Online Scans!

READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan and Virus Removal

It might also be a good idea to scan with the Old HJT and attach the log.
I'll leave a link in case you need it.

Note that your HijackThis MUST be extracted to its own safe folder – C:\Program Files\HijackThis!
Should you need a Fresh Download of HJT, get it HERE: HijackThis v1.99

Also note that, before you scan, you MUST close all running programs including your web browser, e-mail and items in the system tray.

Please save your HJT Log as a .txt File and attach it via the "Manage Attachments" tool in the Additional Options section when you post.

Thank You for all the help, I got it figured out!! After READING and not SKIMMING your tutorials, I learned how to use HJT and some other interesting tidbits of information that help you better understand what exactly it is you're doing!!
