I have installed MGTools, and are trying to remove various entries with the help of HJT Tutorial - DO NOT POST HIJACKTHIS LOGS.
I select what I want to remove, click "fix cheched", the procedure runs without error. When I rescan no entries was removed. When I look at the backups, the entries I chose to remove have been added to the list of backups. If I click "delete all" in backups, the list is emptied, but when I exit and re-enter the backup section, the entries are still there.

I use HJT on many different computers every week, and have never had this problem before. Ideas?

    Im running win vista business.
Yesterday I made changes to my service configuration in accordance with Black Vipers recomendations. Maybe that screwed something up.

Unless you are an expert with all Windows OS, you should not be using HijackThis on your own. I would say your having problems because you are running Vista and thus that would also mean you are not an expert user and should not be using HijackThis. Vista's UAC and other protection features will stop you from making various changes to your PC including registry changes. If you disable UAC and run HijackThis as administrator, you may not have the same problems, but I still do not recommend your use of HijackThis without expert guidance. If you have malware problems, you need to run this: READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

Not topic for this forum and I don't recommend doing any of those changes anyway since they are really not necessary.

Im not an expert user because Im running windows vista? Excuse me?
Im surprised to see insults like these from an MG admin.

I must have used HJT on 50 different PC's the last 3 months without problems, and I will continue to use it even though you think its too far above me.

I posted the question in this forum because this is where the HJT tutorial is, and because you guys are using this tool frequently, and may have had the same problem before.

Maybe you dont recomend making changes to win services, but Major_Attitude do, and it was his recomendation that took me to black vipers site. I would not have trusted that site without an MG recomendation. I have not had any other problems, so I doubt this got anything to do with it.

I'm sorry! You misinterpreted what I wrote. Perhaps due to the poor sentence structure I used at the time. Your problem was with running HijackThis and I was saying that you may be having problems running it due to using Vista which adds complications around using tools like this. You must run HijackThis as administrator in order to get it to work properly. Also it may be necessary to disable UAC.

Yes I know all about the link from Major Attitude. I'm just saying that are not necessary.
