Well, I ran two virus scans, Ad-Aware SE Personal, and Both Virus Scans came up with Hlwin.DLL, And cannot remove it for some reason. Im wondering if this is seriously harmful and something to worry about, or to just go on and forget about it. I read up on it and its an BHO, and such..If someone can please post some information about this, and if you have gotten it. I have the latest Virus definations and windows updates as of 1/5/2006.

    See this: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/adware.linkmaker.html

And if you want help removing malware continue with the below. Often times these things do not come alone.

This one is pretty easy to remove.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

It is better than no firewall but does not provide adequate protection. That is all covered in another sticky thread: How to Protect yourself from malware!

You can do this later. For now you need to focus on fixing any malware problems.
