    Hello everyone,

I have a bit of a problem. I'm strapped for cash at the moment and I want to use a DVD on my new PC but I only have a CD player. I do, however, have a laptop with a DVD drive and, at the time of using the laptop, it was recommended that I cure some fault or other by connecting up a 'slave drive'. That is to say, that I would be able to use the drive from another machine by connecting the two of them up.

I'd love to be able to do that with these two machines. Does anyone know whether it's possible and if so, what I need and how I do it?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

    Regards,

    Steve

So you want to use your computers DvD player, on your new machine.....well....Just hook up your monitor to your Lap top and set it up as a Secondary Monitor. Will that solve it? As for hooking up your Laptops DvD Player to your PC....I dont think that is possible, unless it is an external or, removable.

If you have a home network, another thing you could do would be to share your laptop's DVD drive. Then, from your computer, you could use it as a network drive.

Okay, thanks. Ive been dabbling in home networking for a while and there is obviously the home and network connections option supplied through Windows XP, but I've tried doing this and it asks for some kind of software in order to create a home network. I haven't a clue what this software is or how to set it up but it looked like I was making progress with a wireless home network via a flash drive for a moment.

    Any further advice?
