Man where have I been!! LOL

I hadn't seen or heard nothing of this!! I just typed in sygate.com to go to their site and look up a couple of things, and when the page loads in...I notice a BIG Symantec header at the top, and almost fell out of my chair!!!! Then I read that the acquisition was just completed about 4 days ago. Wow...I'm definately a day late and a dollar short on this bit of news!!!!

So I wonder...does this mean that the free SPF will become a resource hog?? And will Symantec be able to stand to give something away for free!!?? LOL

Ofcourse I might not be laughing for too much longer!!!!

Yeah this is old news  .... I doubt symantec will even bother that much with sygate as then too take some of its features and add it too there norton personal firewall if they dont have it...hopefully symantec will keep sygate free :)

Kerio's free version obsolete's itself at the end of the year; I can see Sygate going the same route. Symantec never gives anything away for free, other than a few virus tools to remove things their AV can't stop.

lol Star... So if we save our install file can't we continue to use the program regardless of what happens to it in the hands of Symantec?

Didn't they also acquire PowerQuest recently?

    And Adobe have acquired Macromedia.

All this means is less products, and less competition. It's only beneficial to the companies shareholders.

And of course, Symantec acquired Veritas (merger). I've always loved BackupExec, now, who knows....

you can still run the old Symantec version - but it'll never get updated, so thats a risk.
