Man when it comes to my network skills my rating drops to 0. Anyways I'm trying to create a home network between two computers using a Motorola cable modem. I'm connected to the modem with a USB cable and the other computer is connected with an Ethernet cable. Both computers are running windows XP. I'm having trouble creating the network on both computers because I don't know what settings to enable while running the setup wizard, such as whether i put his computer is running off mine or both are connected through a hub or what.

If both PCs are connected directly to the modem, this likely will not work (however, it depends on your modem). I know some of the Motorola Surf Boards have built in routers. Regardless of that, you shouldn't have to run the network wizard at all.

Can both of these computers get on the internet?

With one PC connected check the IP address. What is it?
With both PCs connected, what IP address do you get on each?

Check your IP by doing this:
    1) Go to Start --> Run. Type cmd and press OK
    2) In the black window type "ipconfig" and press enter. You will see the information here. If you have more than one IP address listed, include what the name of the adapter is, as well as the IP address, unless you know which one your modem is connected to.
