When I go online in IE 10 my home page goes to Nation Zoom, etc. rather than the one I have selected for my home page - when I go to Internet Options for selecting the default home Page I want, the URL for the home page I want is in the window but the page still open to Nation Zoom. How do I make this change? I have Win 7 64. I had Nation Zoom as one of my programs but uninstalled it.

The very first thing you should do is to scan your machine using the program called Malwarebytes Anti-Malware which is available from right here at MajorGeeks.
Nation Zoom can be a hard to remove; a pesky and persistent problem. Therefore after that initial Malwarebytes scan and removal completes, try these additional steps:

Remove Nation Zoom (and it's other "associated" apps) from Add/Remove Programs:
    1. Click Start => Control Panel => Programs (or Add/Remove Programs) => Uninstall a Program.
    2. Here, look for Wsys Control, Extended Protection, eSave Security Control, Desk 365, Nation Zoom browser protection and similar entries
Select 'Uninstall/Change' and then Click OK to save the changes
    Internet Explorer:
    1. Open Internet Explorer, go ‘Tools‘ => ”Manage Add-ons’
Go to 'Toolbars and Extensions’ and uninstall these extensions: Wsys Control, Extended Protection, eSave Security Control, Desk 365, Nation Zoom browser protection.
    2. Click ''Tools' => 'Manage addons' => ‘Search Providers’ and choose the search engine you used before the problem began (Google, bing, etc.).

OK Did all that and still have NZ controlling my home page. I did go to http://www.nationzoom.net/ where I can download a removal tool but I am a bit leery of it. Do you have an opinion about that? Also the site recommends using Spyhunter - are you familiar with it?

    Thanks for all your help.

Hi GrreatRon... DO NOT download the removal tool (or anything else, for that matter) from the nation zoom website. It will likely cause even more problems.

Did you run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware? That might help you with this problem.

You can use this video tutorial to learn how to use it.

Thanks for the heads up. I had gathered the same opinion after reading about others' problems with NZ. Yes, I ran the program and found some corrupted files and deleted them and still no solution. Any other ideas?

Yes, I do have an additional idea: Try this app called AdwCleaner

After you download and run the program you Click On: Scan. Then when it is finished running Click On: Clean

Very Important Notes: You MUST restart the computer when prompted to do so. After the computer boots up, a report of what it removed appears. Save that text file for viewing later.

P.S. Additionally, the home page is in English; but just so you know the actual 'download' link on that page leads you to a page that is in the French language. However you can simply click on the picture of the silver hard drive below the word DATA to download the stand-alone portable .exe of the program. Underneath the silver hard drive pic is the word Telecharger.
Don't worry because the AdwCleaner program itself is in ENGLISH.

    Hi Nick,

    Sorry about that...

I noticed the Major Geeks 'download link' is for AdwCleaner v3.013 which was out of date. The program has been updated to AdwCleaner v3.014. Although the MG link does download the program icon to the desktop; when clicked on it opens an Outdated Version message box (see thumbnail) which; when you then click OK, leads to leads directly to the developers Xplode French language page.

    Good Luck!
