I think I've run into trouble with a virus. When I open IE, I get redirected to MSN. When I try to change it to yahoo, it goes back to MSN. What do I need to do to fix this problem?

    Thanks,
    Wayne

    Hi wayne45!
    Welcome to Major Geeks!
This doesn't sound like a malware problem. Does the same thing happen if you use a browser which is not IE? If you don't have another browser, please go to the following website, where you can download a copy of Firefox and install it. http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2248 See if you can get to yahoo using Firefox rather than IE and post back to us whether this made a difference or not.

    Hi wayne!
I had a similar problem with a Vista version of IE7, which I didn't like at all. I don't know which version of IE you're using or if you have the same problem I had. It would be a good idea for you to ask about this further in the Software Forum. My way of solving it may not be either the easiest or the best. The first thing you should try is to open IE and go to your tools and internet options and see if you can reset the startpage there to something other than MSN. The way I solved it, however, was quite different. I went to C:\WINDOWS\ie7. I opened this folder called ie7 and scrolled down through all the installation folders until I found among them a copy of IE6 from 2004. It had the old icon. I right-clicked on it and sent a link to my desktop and used that. It's not the most elegant solution, so I think you should talk to the people in software before you look for the right solution for yourself. I'm quite sure there's a better way.

I use IE7 and up until a few days ago, I haven't had any problems. When I go to internet options to try to set the home page to something else, it always goes to msn. I will try the software people.
