I am using the Linksys WKP54G broadband router / wireless card combo. I'm able to connect to other networks with my laptop, however when I attempt to connect to my home wireless network I always get "limited or no connectivity". I'm finding the Linksys website cumbersome and would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction over here.

I have tried resetting the router and I have changed none of the settings in the router setup (other than router admin password). I haven't had this thing working long enough to even figure out how to make it a secure network.

    thanks

Hi, how far away from the router are you? Wireless, as you now know, is easy. Turn it on and connect. I have frequent problems myself getting a good connection with my laptop. I can be 30 feet away and its fine on my end table, put it on my lap and the signal goes to low, with the card pointing away from the router. I know, this isnt a great answer, but as neat as wireless is, the technology is not all that great. You might consider a wireless booster, but thats expensive. Other things can interfere, TV, radio, other wireless items (cell phones, wireless phones) microwaves and more. You need to look around to see if you can fix these things. A couple sugestions:

Change the channel of your router. 1,6 or 1 can be best. If your neighbor has a router, there could be another conflict to add to the list above. If so, they are probably on default channel, so change to another.

Move the antenna around a bit on the router, make sure your pc has as short a distance from it as possible.

Thanks for the quick response. I went and found an ethernet cable and hardwired my laptop to the router; no improvement. It wasn't the signal. I restored factory default settings and I am able to connect with the laptop again. (not sure what happened)

Now I'm going to wander around looking for wireless security info.

    thanks again.

I am also using this same router. I am able to connect to the network, but I am not able to bring up the internet. Everytime I click on Internet Explorer it brings up the page cannot be displayed error. I am new to the computer field, but I tried all that I know, but still had no success. Can someone tell me what's wrong.

I would start a new thread, you might not be noticed here. A quick quess would be to make sure your connected to it by default. Running internet connection wizard might help, but connecting *should* be simple.
