HomeSite 4.5 won't install on Win XP SP2 machine!

Hi all-

I'm migrating my set up to a newer computer ... was running Win 2K Pro and have set up this newer machine with Win XP.

Tried to install my copy of Homesite 4.5 and I keep getting errored out! The splash screen comes up and I choose Homesite to install but it stops after going about 3/4 of the way through the install set up process. I get a little tiny dialog box with a "stop" sign, but *nothing* else in it but an "OK" button to close it!

Went to Allaire's site and followed their instructions on how to *reinstall* Homesite after SP 2 is installed. I think that they are reffering to 5.5 which is the latest version. Anyway, this doesn't work ... keep getting that dialog box and not much else information!

I *do* have admin privileges and I did close down the firewall and the anti virus program and still can't get this to install!

Any suggestions!? I really love this program and don't want to spend extra $$ to get the full updated version, when I have one that is quite usable, thank you!!!

ok -- tried the step by step that they gave ... the winxpsp2 link ... doesn't get me anywhere ... it won't install at *all*! Stops before the setup even finishes!

Don't want to pay $99 for a newer version when the old version works just fine for what I need!

Anyone have any other editors that work as well as Homesite???

 

You should call/mail them and ask for tech support.
Also try the homesite forum in macromedia site.
If you have instalation problems with other programs also do tell.
