@Mrs. Ace I'm not sure, but in my experience 'special' is lost on men unless it involves lace.;) I think anything you do for him will be much appreciated. You two have a lovely time.

I have to disagree here, primarily because my experience is the opposite of yours. What's special to a woman is lost on most men because they don't think it is as special... very few husbands pay enough attention to your fingernails to notice that expensive manicure, and even if he did, he probably doesn't care that much. Men just don't think the same things are "special" as most women do. :)

For example, most women who have an office job loves it when their man has flowers delivered to their workplace with a sweet card attached to it for an anniversary. Most men wouldn't enjoy that at all. Try having a Pizza Hut special sent to him at work instead, he'll appreciate that a lot more! Or sneak his favorite adult beverage into the fridge so he finds it there when he gets home from work on Friday night, after a very long and stressful work week. Cook his favorite food without being asked.

The Guy and I have (unintentionally) made a weekend ritual of his breakfast. It started one weekend when he'd had a really rough work week and I wanted to cheer him up. I snuck out of bed before he woke up, and made breakfast for him, bacon and scrambled eggs with lots of cheese. The weekend after he asked me if I'd please make bacon and eggs again? So I did, because he asked nicely, and it seemed to make him really happy.

So now we have a weekend ritual where I sleep in as long as I want to every Saturday and Sunday morning, and when I wake up, the first thing I do is cook bacon and scramble eggs. And then I make myself coffee and toast, since I don't care much for scrambled eggs at all. I don't think this is special at all, since it's not exactly exhausting and difficult to scramble eggs, but The Guy loves it, and has developed a habit of bringing it up whenever his guy friends start to complain about whatever in their relationships they're unhappy with. He says he likes the glares of bitter jealously it gets him. LOL

Nah, I agree. I was being facetious. Although, they do like lace.:-D

I cook alot, so while my husband appreciates that, it's not really special after almost 20 years of marriage.

He loves when I say 'let's go play golf'. It's something both of us love and we don't get to do together very often. So I do try to do that whenever I can.

I think it's all about doing something they really love that is somewhat out of the norm.

Hello Mrs. Ace, the sensitive types are nice! After 34+ years to my sensitive hubby, I would suggest, is play it by ear, and just go with the flow. Let nature take it's course, and sometimes the best times, are not planned. Maybe a romantic dinner out while on your Honeymoon, with candles. :)

Exactly! Primarily because it shows that you care enough to pay close attention to the person, and do something that you think they would enjoy, rather than taking the stupid and cliche "roses and chocolate" approach.

See my comment to Laura. :) You know him better than we do. You know what he likes, and what would make him really, really happy, and what would best send the message you want to send. Just identify what that would be, and do it.

Oh, and maybe not ask for advice on a forum he visits often? ;)

This thread has reminded me that I have been promising The Guy butter-herb baked rainbow trout for a few days, without delivering on it. Shame on me! Excuse me for an hour or so. :)

"Something special" in my mind, would be you both deciding to put "self" on the back-burner - and catering to wants of the other.

"..and a good time was had by all."

    Enjoy each other.

    Hi Mrs ACE

Just a thought, I would have asked for replies to be made in a PM as posting openly the ideas on the main forum, would have Mr ACE knowing your plans, but like the others I would say think of the things he likes be that food, activities etc and in the area you are going to for your honeymoon, pre-plan something.

  18. GCWesq

    GCWesq MajorGeek

Easy. Invite five of his best mates along.

    JOKING!!!

Anything from time on a secluded beach (with you) to a helicopter ride. Depends on what he's like and what he likes. I would suggest you make sure you get it right though - ask around, drop hints, etc. Nothing worse than him having to pretend he likes it, and neither of you having a good time...
Well, maybe some things are worse... :)

@Mrs.Ace... Unless you can come up with something he is really interested in, like a hobby or something that he has wanted for ages, the old saying is correct, the best way to a mans heart is through his stomach :)

Technically, it's through his back, in between the fourth and fifth rib on the left side. :)

Or through the local grocer's deli section and butcher block, followed by a detour through your fridge, past your oven and stove, with a pit stop somewhere on the way to obtain adult beverages that mix well with the upcoming meal.

Well, this may sound a bit simple, but a nice picnic in a secluded, but restful area of the woods is pretty hard to beat, i.m.o. Hope you both have a great Honeymoon, whatever you decide.:):cool

i have had a few thoughts on what to do....and btw "bananas" was just a random comment that ace had said when he was reading over my shoulder...:) i have thought of maybe making a really nice dinner and eating it outside on the veranda at sunset. i thought it would be nice to see all the nice colors of a sunset...then i nice hot shower together (i love washing his hair) then a movie with popcorn and snuggles......

I overheard my wife once talking with a friend about something along these lines - she told her friend that the most impressed she ever made me was when we were dating she showed up at my house in her birthday suit, with beer.

She meant it as a joke . . . but yes, I was very, very impressed when it happened . . . :-D
