Hotel reservation -- Trouble

    Ok, if any Geek has knowledge on law matters, hotels and such stuff I need help!

    A couple of weeks ago I visited Germany and I made a reservation via internet for a hotel. It was from 09.3.2008 until 11.3.08. The confirmation came, everything fine. A day after that a second e-mail came saying that they would be glad to offer me a room from 02.8.2008 to 03.8.2008 (!!!). I thought there was somekind of mistake and that theyu had reserved a room fro me to use in August. I call them and ask if it was possible to change the 02 of August to 09 of March. The receptionist says that it is not possible and I ask him to cancel the reservation.

    Seems that the matter is over, I find another hotel, charge my credit card 300 Euros only to find that the first hotel had kept my reservation and charged me 270 additional Euros.

    I have mailed them explaining the situation but I would like to have a back up. First I wanna know if it is by law their fault. Second I would like you to tell me any of those consumer protection agencies (Consumer International) that might help me get a refund.

    Please help guys, It really ruined my trip

    Hi Sailor, sorry to hear of your ruined trip,

    Do you have the original conformation details in email reply or printed out which shows you booked online the dates of 09.3.08 ~ 11.3.08? ( also communication as to the cancelation ) if you do GREAT as you have some grounds to get a full refund quickly, and even if not chat with yor credit card company and state this is what happened as CC companies have deptements that deal in this sort of thing.

    Get in touch with your Credit Card company as soon as possible and ask them to sort this out for you.
    Have you got a copy of the emails and receipts?
