    Hello Everyone.

Can anyone help me with these questions. I have spoke to so many people and nobody has the answer.

Does hotmail keep duplicates of any e-mail that has ben sent by another person?

I will give you an example:
If I sent you and e-mail, "Hi how are you?", you receive it, read it, and then delete it. I also delete it from my sent file and my trash file. There are no records on either my computer or my hotmail account on either end.

Does hotmail keep the original copy of that one e-mail?

THese are the types of answers I have received:
    * No they do not keep the original e-mail, they do keep the time, day, when it was sent, by who to who, when it was read and how big the file was, but not the original e-mail text.
    * Like a phone bill with out the conversation.
    * Yes they keep the original e-mail, but need law officials to get your info.

    Can someone help me?

Is this the right forum to place this question into?

    Thanks

When you signed up for hotmail account, did you read the agreement?
Did you ask hotmail via FAQS/email?

    Hi

As far as I know if you delete them they are deleted off the server, while its plausable that data recovery could if used on the server HDs could bring back mail if not overwritten its highly unlikely as the massive movement of data would overwrite any HD block flagged as blank.

Maybe worth an email here https://support.microsoft.com/contactus/emailcontact.aspx?scid=sw;en;1310&ws=1prcen ( product or service choose Passport Network )

I am not to sure what you mean? You think that once it is deleted, it is gone for good?

I've always assumed once it is in cyberspace it is forever. Their server deletes it, but how about backups? Given the paranoia of our government and requirement to keep backups for a period of time...
