Hotmail Mutations

This is what happens when you (intentionally) ignore checking your long-forgotten, use-only-for-registration-so-you never-have-to-deal-with-them hotmail account.

Last checked, January 5, 2005....I'm forwarding them all to Halo.

looks kinda like the spam folder in my gmail account, i've got options to buy drugs i've never even heard of in there!

My outlook almost gave up the otherday when the spam folder hit 16,000 lol

I keep a couple of thousand normally for training spambayes, and I don't like deleting them till i've checked for legit mails in there which I normally forget to do so they just build up till I notice lol

 

What is it about my love life they find so interesting...

I would like to find a method of moving the legit stuff I've put into folders in hotmail onto my hard disk without using pop3 (I think that is what it is called). I just want to archive the stuff, and I never, ever want to use outlook (else why use webmail?). Any ideas?

 

My gmail account(s) spam folders are filled with mail all in chinese. Ah, the cultural expansion available on the internet...it's Al Gore-like mind-numbing.

 

I don't get to much at home (that my ISP doesn't filter), but at work everybody keeps wanting to loan me around 3/4 million dollars at ridiculously low rates, and suggest hot stock tips.

 

That explains why I never heard back from you.

My Hotmail acct was disabled. I reenabled my MSN IM login to find that the name was still there from 2 yrs ago. I registered it again with no personal information.

I get geneology offers to my real name. 2 yrs and I NEVER used snotmail

I used to use the email signature- Friends Don't Let Friends Use Hotmail.

 

Actually I've never used anything else, I've had it for around 15 years. The only thing I'd like is to be able to move my email from a hotmail folder into my hard drive.

 

So buy a cheap laptop and give it the performance enhancing drugs! Your MHZ just might become GHZ

 

That's weird as I get zero spam in Gmail. I guess it's because I don't sign up to all those 'getbiggerfaster' sites etc.

 

Ive never tried hotmail, but i had a Yahoo account that i used for registering for stuff, and i check it about once a year....I have around 5000 emails in my spam folder.

 

The thing is, hotmail cancels your account if you don't check it in 60 days or so (actually I think it is 30 days), so how are you keeping your accounts open so long? I'd like to know, been a nuisence a few times for odd accounts I've opened. My main account, the long timer, they've given me 2 Gigs. I think it has something to do with giving feedback (ie, complaining). My current gripe is their virus scanner will flag anything zipped that has a tight compression ratio as a unknown virus. Since I've been doing a lot of .bmp files that I zip up to send I can't use my hotmail account, I have to use a similar yahoo email address instead. Trend virus scanner sucks.

The stuff that actually make it to the spam folder should be deleted in 7 days, it's the stuff that gets by the filters that's a nuisence.

 

Well I never sign up for much with my gmail but it is the email adress listed on my site, and with my application and has now been copied all over the internet lol. Still gmail seems to be pretty accurate with the spam its filters the DEFINATE spam and anything it seems to be unsure about it leaves which I have spambayes deal since I pop3 it

 

I've actually ended up with two Yahoo accounts. One that's my registration account, and the one I give to friends, and the other I leave completely silent and have the spam filter turned off of. It's the one I use to get newsletters and bulk mailed stuff that my main account dumps to the Bulk, which I left turned of so it's deleted.

I have something like 8 or 9 email accounts.

 

So does any other web mail offer an offline mail reader without using outlook? I think NetZero does, but the cure is worse than the disease.

My grandmother used to get junk mail from the Army requesting that she come in for a re-up interview and what not.

She served in WW2 and was 70 when she got these letters. Kind of funny actually.
