Hotmail wont sign in

Im using Windows XP with tiscali broadband.
I have recently reformatted my pc. Everything is fine except
i cannot sign in to Hotmail.com.
I have installed MSN messenger 7.5 and have the MSN icon in the bottom
right corner on my screen. When i go online this icon flashes and signs me in automatically and my hotmail list of contacts comes up and if i have any new emails then a popup box shows up in the bottom right hand corner.
When i enter on the popup box or the MSN on screen display then i get a unable to find server repsonse.....
Any ideas. My laptop is wireless using the same internet connection and MSN/Hotmail works 100% and automatically signs me in when i go online

A few options to try

1. In IE > Tools > Intenet Options

A. Click Privacy tab and make sure that privacy level is Medium (default)
B. Click Security tab and register Hotmail as a trusted site ( click the green tick for trusted sites > Sites > and enter http://www.hotmail.com/ and ADD )
C. Click Advanced tab and restore defaults.

2. Register these 3 dlls

Goto Start > Run and type
regsvr32 schannel.dll
regsvr32 rsabase.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll

3. Delete your Temporary Internet Files and Cookies

When you try and login at http://www.hotmail.com/ what is the exact error?

Thanks for your help.
I have done as you suggested. Also i have programme PC cillin 2002 virus scanner and i have changed the settings under personal firewall/trusted sites by adding hotmail.com msn.com and loginnet.passport.com to the list of trusted sites.
AT LAST it is working fine, i have been trying to sort this for 16days now
