how can i get rid of the metro startup on Win 8?

I hate this new way that windows is, cant stand it!
I would like to get rid of this whole windows 8 metro look and have a normal display like win 7 was.
How do i do that without purchasing something?

There are quite a few 'front ends' available for Win 8. You could try Classic Shell or maybe just revert to Win 7?

 

Does that classic shell program work like windows 7 or xp did?
In other words will it disable the windows 8 metro screen and app garbage that I cant stand?

Here is some info on Classic Shell in how it works. It brings back the familiar start menu. My hunch is that it won't disable the metro screen and app "garbage". Someone else may know the answer to that. http://ask-leo.com/classic_shell_regain_your_start_menu_in_windows_8_and_much_more.html

 

Classic Shell boots straight into your desktop, just as in Win 7 but you can still access the Start (aka Metro) screen with the Windows key.
