How Can I Tell If My Sent Email Has Been Read?

Hi Computer People,
I send & receive a few emails a day, and would like to know how I can tell if one of my sent emails has been opened & read?
I have xp, o/e6 and besides that, Im not blond. (Maybe one day)
Is there any software out there that I can use, or is it standard in o/e.

When you have composed your message and before sending it click on tools and then"Request Read Receipt" (or words to that effect) in the menu that opens.

All the email recipient needs to do with that is click 'no' and its functionality has been squashed

I have mine set to never send a receipt so I don't even get a pop-up notification.

Here is a free program that may or may not work...many spam detection software programs now remove the code that would notify you of a read message...only trial and error will tell you if it's going to give you the information you seek.

 

True! True! - but you can only go as close and one can go in the cyber world. Least it's as close as you can get.

Thanks for the advice guys. Im going to try it out. I like the idea of only me knowing if its been read, but then again, I cant ask for everything.
