how can i tell the difference between a PCI and AGP slot?

    i think i have 5 pci slots plus 1 agp, but i want 2 make my video go into the agp. is there a program i could download telling me which card is in which slot?

    AGP slots have a different offset compared to the PCI slot. AGP slots are usually brown, yellow, or blue, whereas PCI slots are almost always white. Additionally, AGP slots are always positioned closest to the CPU. On tower machines, this means that the AGP slot is the topmost card.

    Here's an example of a motherboard. The yellow is the AGP slot. The others are PCI.

    If you want to download a program to see what your video card is using without opening the case up, you can get Everest. Browse to the location show in the picture below. If it says AGP, you're using AGP.
