How did they get my phone number

I was trying to download a music video on YouTube when it froze and then my screen turned blue with wording saying I was in an “infinite loop”. Within 30 seconds our home phone rang and a man asked if I was sitting at the computer and telling me that he knew I had a problem and he would guide me through solving the issue. He claimed to be from Microsoft. I put the phone down.

How did they get my phone number and what hack or virus is this?

Thanks TimW I've cleared the machine. I just wondered if you had any ide how they could have got my phone number, or was it a coincidence that they called just as I was infected via youtube?

I frankly have not come across this issue before, so I really have no idea how they got your phone number.

However, what did you mean by you "cleared" your system. I can only check your system for any remaining malware by your doing the Read and Run First instructions.
