how do i add my hotmail account to mozilla thunderbird

i am starting to experiment around with free software that nearly replaces the microsoft office suite and i am having trouble setting up my hotmail account in thunderbird, of course you can set up a gmail account since its already in there but how can i add a hotmail account to the program

ps: most of the instruction manuals i have found over the internet are either from a older version (i'm sure the menus have changed over time) or they are arranged mixed up

 

i went through all of the procedures

1.open account setting
2.add a new account
select email account
3. entered my name and hotmail address
4.selected pop and made the incoming server pop3.live.com
5.selected ssl in security settings in the account server settings
6.changed the smtp to myemail@hotmail.com-pop3.live.com

and it worked on recieving messages in my hotmail inbox but i just can't reply to them under my hotmail account

how do i make these extensions work in linux thunderbird
