How Do I Delete A Virtual Dvd? (part 1)

I have a virtual DVD that I am trying to delete. Here's the story:

Last week I was trying to burn an ISO DVD on my E: drive. After a couple of attempts I finally succeded. But now, when I open DiskMgmt.msc this is what I see:

    1 Disk Managment.jpg

If I right-click on the F: drive and select Properties>Hardware I see this:

    2 MS Virtual DVD-ROM.jpg
The top entry is the physical DVD-ROM, the 2nd entry is a virtual DVD-ROM.

If I then click Properties>Driver I see this:

    3 MS Virtual DVD-ROM Properties.jpg
Notice that the Driver Version is 19141.1266; however, I have the latest update installed (19043.1526) and I'm wondering why this wasn't updated during the latest Windows Update...

But if I select View>Top>DiskList in the Disk Management screen I see this:

    4 Disk Management.jpg

Notice that CD-ROM 0 now (as if by magic!) appears as DVD (E:).

And here are the contents of CD-ROM 1:

    5 CD-ROM 1 Contents.jpg

In an attempt to get rid of CD-ROM 1 I tried to delete all of the files shown above but have not been successful. I also tried to delete CD-ROM 1 itself but was also unsuccessful (as shown by subesequent Rescan Disks actions). Then I closed all windows.

An hour later I opened diskmgmt.msc again. I didn't see any entries for the DVD-ROM in the top part of the window but I saw Disk 0 partitions 1 and 5 in the top part that weren't there before. And I saw entries for CD-ROM 0 and 1 in the bottom part.

Due to attached file limitations, I have included what I saw in the next message.)

So now I have total mind overload. How can I delete the CD-ROM 1 entry?

eject.gif Open explorer, right click on the virtual CD ROM and select eject & it will disappear.

I did similar things early on in my troubleshooting, including the Eject function. Except none of them entailed using Windows Explorer.

So I after reading your reply I did what you wrote, and it worked.

I'm flabbergasted! Thank you for telling me that.:)
