How do I disable the "Welcome Screen" for Win xp?

Ok, I realized today that I may have a crappy video driver from ATI, So I decided to get a new one. I got the latest driver, and everything runs great! But when I boot I get an error saying CLI.exe blah blah blah. So I look that up on the internet. Apparently I have to install the latest version of .net for it to work properly. So I do. Now I don't get the error when the comp boots up. Instead I have to deal with the "Pick user" screen (I'm the only user on the whole screen) so how can I just have it bypass this?

Edit: This is what I think caused the problem

Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Change the way users log on or off -> Uncheck "Use the Welcome screen"

That didn't work. I thought that would be it myself. But all that does it makes it even more difficult to log in. It makes you type in your username and password .. it's just "More Secure"

Ah. If you are using a password for a user account, you have to have some form of login, whether it's the welcome screen or the classic-style login.

I don't have a password though. This just started happening today after that install.. Bah..

And now I realize that if I leave my comp alone for about 20 minutes, I have ot relog on..

If you want to login without typing a password, please follow me below:

PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE MODIFYING THE REGISTRY!

    1) Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.

    2) Locate the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

    3) Using your account name and password, double-click the DefaultUserName entry, type your user name, and then click OK.

    4) Double-click the DefaultPassword entry, type your password under the value data box, and then click OK.

If there is no DefaultPassword value, create the value. To do this, follow these steps:
    a. In Registry Editor, click Edit, click New, and then click String Value.
    b. Type DefaultPassword as the value name, and then press ENTER.
    c. Double-click the newly created key, and then type your password in the Value Data box.
If no DefaultPassword string is specified, Windows XP automatically changes the value of the AutoAdminLogon registry key from 1 (true) to 0 (false) to turn off the AutoAdminLogon feature.

    5) Double-click the AutoAdminLogon entry, type 1 in the Value Data box, and then click OK.

If there is no AutoAdminLogon entry, create the entry. To do this, follow these steps:
    a. In Registry Editor, click Edit, click New, and then click String Value.
    b. Type AutoAdminLogon as the value name, and then press ENTER.
    c. Double-click the newly created key, and then type 1 in the Value Data box.

    6) Quit Registry Editor.

    7) Click Start, click Restart, and then click OK.

NOTE: After your computer restarts and Windows XP starts, you can log on automatically.

Let me know if you have any problems. Thanks!

You may be able to solve that with your screensaver settings. Look for "On resume password, password protect" or somesuch.

Try going into your account and removing the password, or setting the password and then remove it.

To prevent having to log in everytime your computer goes idle go to START, CONTROL PANEL, DISPLAY, SCREENSAVER, NONE . Then also on power schemes make sure everything is set to NEVER.

Ok, I have discovered the problem. When I installed ATI's newest driver, and I got the error saying that it couldn't run the control panel, I looked on ATI's site and it said that ASP.NET has to be installed. On this site there was a link. Now that I have found some information about this software, it creates it's OWN user account. So now I'm not the only user on my computer. Well wasn't that nice of them!?

    Anyone understand this?

Also. I can't figure out where it installed the files for this. ARGG! I HATE stuff that @$#(*& with your settings.

Ok, I killed the extra user account.. and hopefully that asp.net crap. And ATI doesn't seem to realize that it's gone. I guess that's good.
