How do I get rid of Bing? I say “Bing”, obviously not meaning the Bing Web site but the toolbar, add-on or whatever I may have. I’ve copied a search result page and attached the image and in the top left the Bing symbol can be seen. I’ve used the Mozilla Firefox Web browser and the Google search engine.

Prior to posing this question I have searched for a solution online. The ones I found suggest closing the toolbar, deleting it from your browser’s add-ons, using Control Panel to uninstall the program or using something like Revo Uninstaller. I cannot make use of any of these solutions. I do not have the Bing toolbar so cannot close what I do not have. I have checked all my Web browser’s add-ons and I do not have the Bing add-on. I have looked at the list of programs that are listed in Control Panel and it is not listed. Finally, I opened Revo Uninstaller and it does not listed Bing. I have also used Windows search function and typed ‘Bing’ but nothing was found. Finally, I have had a good look through my PC’s Directory and cannot find anything called ‘Bing’.

My PC is an Acer Aspire-E 15 and the operating system is Windows 8.1. Why could Bing be appearing on my research results and is there any way I can get rid of it? I must add it has only been appearing for four days. I know that it could have be downloaded with something and it is possible in haste just to click all options and click install. I have not, however, recently downloaded anything plus I am always careful to be certain what boxes I tick and agree to allow to download.

    Hi Mark

In Firefox if thats the browser used as I see it is, choose three lines for Options and Add-Ons then delete Bing if found.
Check Add/Remove if Bing Toolbar is listed and uninstall. BUT as you tried uninstallers its likely to be an add-on in the browser. Likely an app and generally a free one has said do you want Bing to be your default search engine, load tend to state google.

    Hi David

I don't have Bing in my add-ons. It isn't listed in Add/Remove. It's not listed by my uninstaller. I can't find Bing in the PC's Directory. I've tried the online solutions but I can't use any. It simply isn't listed where anyone says it will be found.

Yes, but, interestingly, not after I removed Bing, after I removed all others excluding Google.
