How do I kill Windows Media Player?

I would love to kill the WMP on my machine. I have tried to uninstall it but all I am allowed to do is to downrev to the previous version.

The reason I want to do this is bacause I like to watch some of the vids at Fox News but every time I install FlashPlayer and get the result I want, WMP will again become the default. The vids won't run on WMP so I am left with them failing.

I have tried the "uninstall, clear the registry, reboot, reinstall" of FlashPlayer over, and over, and over but that has become so tedious that I simply don't want anything to do with it any more. If I can get rid of WMP then it cannot barge its way in as the default.

Is there ANY way to do this? I want it dead, dead, dead!!!

Uninstall no.

But, why don't ye disassociate the extension that media player is trying to run.

Now, the fun part is finding out what file extension that fox news uses.

Another question, what browser are ye using?

From what I gather you don't want WMP to be your DEFAULT player.Very well.go to START, CONTROL PANEL, ADD-DELETE, on the left hand side of the pop-up window you'll see four options, click on the fourth(middle of pop-up),now you have four options again,click on the fourth one(PERSONALIZED TAB). From there you can tell Windows which one you want as default or none. Hope this helps.
