How do I remove Windows SP3 Watermark from my Desktop

    I am running Windows XP with Service pack 3. There is a watermark at the bottom right hand of my desktop that I would like to remove. I'm not sure why it's there in the first place. The water mark says,"Windows XP Professional" and it has more letters and numbers underneath it. Also I am not able to uninstall the SP3 from my laptop. What to do?

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

    Sounds to me like you are talking about what Microsoft will display when they detect and illegal copy of Windows or one that needs to be properly activated if it is a legal copy. So you either need to purchase a valid license or you need to activate Windows.

    Thank you for your help. As far as I know this is a legit copy of Windows. The proper name and a verification code do appear for windows on the laptop. I'm not getting a warning that says it's not a legal copy, and I have seen that warning before. I will try the steps provided. Thank you for the response!
