How do I restore my recycle bin from DOS?

Hello. I'm new here but I'm hoping one of you might take pity on me.
My computer has been very, very naughty and died on me. I reckon I uninstalled something vital 'cause now when I turn it on, it tries to open windows (98) but then says "explorer.exe caused an invalid page fault at ...etc."
No taskbar appears so I came to the conclusion I have to restore all the files in my recycle bin from a dos prompt (which I can get to from startup).
Does anyone know how to do this?
I never realised how lost I'd be without my old computer!

I'm sort of confused by your post. Are you actually getting to the desktop? You said that the task bar wasn't loaded, but failed to mention if the desktop was. If you have a desktop loaded, and the recycle bin is visible, then you should be able to right click on it, and restore your files!

hmm, what about taking out your hard drive, and putting it in another computer and extracting what you want? what os is your computer, etc.?

 

Yes, you're right. I accept this is the best advice. But I'm a bit worried I'll download old viruses / problems / junk / chaos onto the other machine (which, incidentally, I have now bought - and has its own problems!). Can I do something like:

copy windows\desktop\my documents a:

and just get the absolute minimum of what I need off? Will dos recognise if I need multiple floppies to do this?
