how do i set my active x controls

ive been looking for an hour and i cant seem to find the post about how to set my active x controls in my security settings

does anyone know where it is

or does anyone know how to set them

In IE> Tools>Options>Internet Options
Select the Security tab.
Select the Internet Zone, then click the Custom Level button. In the dialog box that appears, change the following settings to the values shown:

ActiveX controls and plug-ins
Download signed ActiveX controls: Disable
Download unsigned ActiveX controls: Disable
Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe: Disable
Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins: Disable
Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting: Disable
Done!

 

thats not gonna cause some things to not work will it

 

Well, I would just set them back to their default settings, instead of custom settings.

Disabling ACTIVE X within IE can cause issues with using IE.

The settings I gave in my first post were ULTRA secure and they WILL inhibit your browsing abilities.
If you want Safe Settings, but more functionality try THESE settings:

In IE> Tools>Options>Internet Options

Download signed ActiveX controls: Enable
Download unsigned ActiveX controls: Disable

Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting: Enable

To reset to Defaults just click 'Default Level' on the 'Security' tab.

sorry if i sound dumb but will i still be able to use my favorite sites

um i reset some of the active x controls when i saw that post about how to set them but since i cant find it now im completly clueless lol

but i appreciate yalls help

oh and will all my controls be reset when i get ie7

Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls
Disable
Binary and script behaviors
Enable
Download signed ActiveX controls
Prompt
Download unsigned ActiveX controls
Disable
Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe
Disable
Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins
Enable
Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting
Enable

Those are the default settings and very functional.

I would leave IE 7 alone until it's out of Beta. You sure don't need any problems and quite a few folks have had problems with IE 7.
Just my opinion.

 

im not gonna get it till its ready to release cause i dont mess with betas lol
