   ajs Private First Class

   Running XP, I inadvertently scheduled a disc scan at start up. It now scans every time I boot up and it takes 45 minutes! How do I stop this scan from happening every time? I'm not too keen on messing with the registry! Thanks.

   Open Task scheduler and unschedule it.
   
   If that doesn't work, go here http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
   scroll down to line 294 in the left column and click on Prevent check disk upon boot.
