How do I remove 'Install WinFixer 2005' from my PC?
It seemed to latch on a while back and it took me a while to remove the actual program, but I cannot seem to remove the shortcut. Any ideas?

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

WinFixer sometime comes with some other bad stuff. You should work thru the below so we can be sure nothing else is hanging around.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Thanks, went through it all, downloaded all files etc and run them as per your spec. Had loads of viruses which I didnt know about, but they've all been zapped now! I did have a problem a few months back with my AOL Broadband in that after about 5 minutes everything froze and I was unable to do anything but cold reboot. I conversed with AOL over this problem but all their suggestions didnt work and in the end I got fed up with them and cancelled my contract and now looking back the problem was more than likely the viruses.
I currently have Norton Anti-Virus and McAfee Firewall, but I will have a look at your free downloads. Also I am not downloading my windows updates like I should and will do in future.
Note: I was unable to download SpyBot from your site as I keep getting an error message, but I didnt need it anyway as all the other programs deleted all the viruses.
Thanks for your help and I saved MajorGeeks as a favourite.

You're welcome! But are you sure you are really clean now. Don't forget your comment
Normally it is best to complete all of the READ ME and attach the two online scanner logs from step 6 and then to followup with attaching the HijackThis log per step 7. Especially since you say you could not even download Spybot. This makes no sense if you could download the other tools. Or did you mean you could not install Spybot.
