How do you "Run" a Microsoft Access application?

(Is this Programming, or Software? Anyway...)

I'm new to Access - this must be a very simple question, with hopefully a simple answer!?

I have my .mdb Access DB open in Access with my Tables, Forms etc. I have my startup form set. But how do I 'Run' it - make it run like a regular application, so I can actually use it?

In Access 2007 (on a Vista machine) I've found I can add "/runtime" to the shortcut to make it run in 'runtime mode'. But on a pre Access 2007 (possibly Access 2000 and certainly Access 97) machine this does not seem to work.

Within Access I just want to hit a button and 'Run It' - as an end user would hopefully see it!?

I've looked everywhere, and I'm sure I've seen others do it in the past?!

    Thanks.

    Hi
Access applications cannot be "run". If you setup a startup form, you can double-click the MDB, and it will load. But there is no way to export it to an exe file.

Ah OK. So, how do I go from designing an application to viewing the startup form, when I don't necessarily know (without looking in the startup options) what the startup form actually is? And consequently how do I switch back to 'designing' when I have a form up and 'running' (and that form doesn't seemingly give the option to close it)?

(Sorry for the seemingly fundamental questions.)

you set it as a startup form. then somewhere, if i remember correctly, it asks if you want to load the startup form on startup(congrats, Microsoft). if you check it then it will load. then X out the form, then it will show Access.

If you are looking for a database program that you can "run" and restrict user access to your code and tables You could try a program like Microsoft Fox Pro. My favorite database programing software. I do believe that Microsoft has stopped developing new versions of it though :cry

Or write a database app in Visual Basic..

Access is by far your easiest answer, just keep reading.
F1 is your friend as will be Access for Dummies. There is no substitute for study time.
The biggest drawback to Access is that all users have to have it installed. Like Word or Excel, you are making a file, not a program.
