how do you send sms messages to mobiles from computers

thought you clever people at m.geeks would know this.
I have heard you can send text messages to mobile phones (to england), but dont know how, so any recommendations appreciated, thanks

I believe ICQ can do this....

I haven't tried to do it in a while, but you used to be able to go to their cell service provider's website and send a text message to them.

Of course, it only works if they are paying for text messaging...

 

With AIM you can add mobile phone numbers to your buddy list, the phone doesnt have to be on AIM for it to work, just send a message to the phone number you want.. very simple
