Urgent need to hear from you more knowledgeable members (i.e., everybody!) as to exactly how to add rows which was so simple in earlier Excel versions, but now is bafflegab.

Even after several efforts to comply with what follows when at INSERT, all I got was to move cell I'm in one to the right with all other cells in the row following suite.
OF COURSE I had specified "entire row".

Why this should be so difficult I know not. Please advise ASAP. Thank you.

    Thank you Adrynalyne.
Even if I understood what you're pretty sure about the fact remains there's no added row on which to enter info. I had been to the ABOUT reference, and they persist in directions applicable to Excel 2003 not Excel 2007. Following them, here's what happens.

When at cell where desired row insert is to be made, and select "entire row", this is what appears at right click:

"To prevent possible loss of data, Excel cannot shift nonblank cells off worksheet". (CELL IS BLANK) "Select another location...insert new cells or delete data from end of worksheet."
"If you do not have data in cells that can be shifted off worksheet, can reset which cells Excel considers nonblank. To do this , press CTRL+END to locate last nonblank cell. Delete this cell and all cells between it and last row and column of your data then save."

That is what I meant as bafflegab!

I do a few documents in Excell 2007 and I have no problems doing this:

(of course you are in a working sheet) in the HOME tab I illuminate (beginning in the number) the row where i want the new one (does not matter if I have data there, the new one will be on top of the illuminated row) and hit (in the cells section) insert and the new row will be inserted.

    I hope this helps you!!!!:-o

How I wish! What you describe is exactly how I've added rows on Excell 2003 for a very long time.

But with Excel 2007 it does not proceed to install "entire row" routinely; it produces two paras of bafflegab. To comply with it is well beyond my competence.

I assume you don't encounter this obstruction and wonder why I do!

    Cordially,
