how to connect new tower?

hi there and thank you for taking the time to look at this question.

I was given a tower from an office of a friend and have reinstalled xp pro so its all legal and clean. However, i dont know how to get it connected to the internet. I plugged in an ethernet lead to the modem and tower but still counldt work it out. It has been on the internet before in the office so it must work.

Any advice for a novice would be great.

You need to install the LAN drivers for the motherboard. Please provide the model of motherboard, and we can point you to the drivers for it.
