how to convince windows that D: is NOT a recovery partition?

I'm not really much of a windows user. For most stuff I prefer Linux. But there are a few games, and occasionaly I want to send something (like a word document {composed with openoffice or abiword}) to a windows user. But before I send it I like to verrify that it will be rendered properly in MS Word... So (since I don't {yet} trust the Linux based NTFS tools to safely modify my windows partition, I use a fat32 partition to share such files with windows.

However, windows sees this fat32 partition as a D: drive, and every now and then I find garbage that looks to me like windows recovery data cluttering up my fat32 partition. This is annoying because I make my own complete partition images to restore from in case of need. And have absolutely no use for windows' automatic recovery tools.

I have seen this behavior with both my HP win xp desktop and my gateway vista laptop.

Is there some way to tell windows to NEVER use the D: drive as a recovery partition??

Can you be a little bit more specific what you mean by "windows recovery data"?

If you are referring to System Restore data, you can open system restore, select Settings, and Turn OFF Monitoring for that drive.
