How to "dig" in my computer

So ever since i've known about computers I have known that almost everything you do and when you do it is recorded somewhere. Everything you type, look at, run, etc is recorded somewhere. I was wondering how I could "dig" in my computer to find all this stuff.

The main log on the computer is the event viewer under administrator tools. This records specific system events; mostly errors and warnings. Other logs are dependent on the program you are running.

There are various programs you can use to log what is typed, run and on the screen. If you could be more specific on what you want to do?

 

Well I want to see what has been typed in the past few days. The system is running windows xp.

 

The last few days I cannot help you with. If you want to log the keystrokes in the future, you can install a key-logger. I only ask that you use it for legal purposes. Which one of the programs thats free in your covert ops section can be put on the computer remotely, like from another computer? I have been keylogged before from certain forums by clicking on a link. How do i do this?

 

I am not too familiar with keyloggers. Let me see if I can get someone to answer that for you.

Which forums keylogged you, and how did you detect it?

 

Well actually it was the WoW forums I believe haha. I know it was a keylogger because I have had my info stolen and stuff taken on my game account. I'm just wondering how they do this
