How to empty Sun Java cache

    I have followed your advice and replaced Microsoft Java by Sun Java using MSJVM Removal Tool. Worked fine. You suggest that it's a good idea to periodically empty the Sun Java cache. How do I do that? syrk

    Click Start > Settings > Control Panel
    Click the Java Plugin Icon
    Click the Cache tab
    Click the Clear button and click OK to confirm

    Sadly cannot check that now as the PC I'm on now has no Java installed and most likey cannot install, But if you click Settings in the java control panel, that should tell you were Java stores its files.

    If I remember its location its this in XP C:\Documents and Settings\<user_name>\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\ So different to IEs browser temp internet cache.

    Halo, under cache I found javapi, javaws, and tmp. Do all three get axed periodically because as chaslang reports in the how to protect yourself from malware guide many baddies will store themselves in the Sun Java cache. syrk

    Yes contents of those folders get deleted, but only if you manually delete them, via the clear button.
