How to enable ACPI

How do I enable ACPI on my Compaq 7400, because if not enabled I can't install Windows XP Pro, I was told this laptop was not compatible but when I type in Armada 7400 in search bar all the computers that are for sale have the OS that I am being told is not compatible!

 

Who told you this? Its utter BS.

If it can't be enabled in the BIOS and the computer supports it, it is already enabled.

However, XP will not use it if your BIOS falls under the bad bios list, or a certain time frame.

 

I can't enable it in bios, and the error message during installation says ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded error message 7 and stopped installation

 

When you see Press F6 to load SCSI/Raid Drivers, press F7 to bypass ACPI

 

I have tried f7, does not work

 

it does work.. don't just hit it once.. keep on hitting it..

 

It does not work I have hit it a hundred times

 

it's a documented install procedure by Microsoft..

try F5 to bring up a choice of HAL's ..choose standard PC

 

F7 does not work...but F5 worked...and I tried every one of the options and evry one gave me the same error message as I get when I don't press any buttons

perhaps you may want to look for an updated BIOS for your board?
